Linux Tech Networks began as a small company, providing support for one client, as a way to an end in 2002, as Wolfstream Internet Services. Originally, however, that domain belonged to Tom Whiting, the owner of Linux Tech Networks, and, the domain collection began then.However, that is another story, for another time
Within 3 months, it became clear that Tom's services as a systems administrator would fill a need, as a remote admin. As one of the first to specialize in hosting and control panel clients, Linux Tech Networks soon became a regular day job, replacing his previous job, and has been so ever since
Linux Tech Networks was founded with the belief that reliable administrative support shouldn't be priced so high that the end user can't afford it. After all, you've got bills to pay too. This is why we set a base rate of $35/hr and will not go over (or under) that amount. While various packages may go over that, these packages often need extra care to get working, and in many cases these packages are priced at a discount to you, the user.
The head tech (Tom Whiting) of Linux Tech Networks started out in BBS land in 1996, doing various odd jobs, programming for a text based bbs through a linux shell. This is where most of the programming aspect of things came in, as for numerous reasons, the bbs was moved a few times, each time having it's own environment (BSD, Linux, etc), having to be adapted to it. Still today (2005), he can be found doing some sort of mud or bbs programming in his spare time.
The staff behind Linux Tech Networks loves solving problems, getting into the system and finding out just what is wrong. In most cases, problems are solved within an hour. We've solved almost every imaginable problem out there from httpd problems to CPanel problems to dns problems. Really, there's not much we can't do, and if we CAN'T fix it, you're not charged. Why should you end up paying for something that we can't fix? Of course, usually if we can't fix it, we won't take the job ;)
Today, 5 years later, Linux Tech Networks is still a Managed Services Provider, but so much more as well. We provide design and scripting services to clients, misc. free hosting services, template modifications, and many, many other things.
